Healthy Workplace Conference 2016 was a one day conference on health and wellbeing in the workplace. Northamptonshire has developed an exciting, low cost, county wide programme that’s making a more resilient, happier and healthier community. You can do likewise.

This conference ran from 9.30am to 5pm, on 15th September 2016 at the University of Northampton.

Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

Feeling well, being resilient and thriving at work and at home; are the keys to people correctly adopting healthy behaviours.

Healthy Eating

About a quarter of adults in England are obese. Success in weight management comes from understanding how people choose to change their eating habits.

Physical Exercise

Only 56% of adults in the UK meet the guidelines of 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Exercise needs to feel positive and rewarding.

Alcohol

Of mood-altering substances, experts see alcohol as the most harmful, followed by heroin and crack cocaine. Reducing alcohol has wide health and social benefits.

Sustainability

From water fountains, healthy forms of transport, recycling, and building with an eye to future energy needs and supply.

Smoking

The single greatest cause of preventable illness and premature death in England. Killing more people than obesity, alcohol and road traffic accidents combined.
